Emotional Intelligence (EI) consist of being self-aware, self-regulated, motivated, empathic, and having above average social skills understanding that your emotions affect the people you are involved with at home, work, and/or at social activities. Your ability to identify and comprehend how to use emotions are imperative to managing anxiety, effectively communicating, overcoming issues, and solving problems (Drigas & Papoutsi, 2018).
As cognitive intelligent human beings lets begin to practice EI:
- Become self-aware by being honest with yourself acknowledging and understanding both your strengths and weaknesses and then working on improving both of these traits.
- Practice controlling your emotions and impulses by not being impulsive, getting too angry, thinking prior to responding/acting, and functioning in integrity and if you slip it's okay just pick up where you left off and start again, because "do overs" are allowed.
- Keep motivated in your endeavors and business affairs remembering that long term success may take longer to accomplish keeping in mind that the rewards will be great!
- As co-residents on the planet understanding the viewpoints of others along with their wants, needs, and desires will be imperative as stereotyping and judging is replaced with empathy.
- Operate and function with a mentality of helping others to reach their full potential or at least guide them in the direction of being better at the role thy are playing in this screenplay called life!
